Poncho Project – help required!

Turning blankets into ponchos

CamCRAG would like to say a massive thank you to all the cutters, sewers, pinners, deliverers and tea-makers who came to our poncho-making event on Saturday. We made 73 ponchos for refugees in Europe, and a further 52 are being completed this week. Now they need waterproofing…

  • Do you have a washing machine?
  • Can you pick up from east Cambridge between 10am and midday this coming Saturday, 21 October?
We need each volunteer to do five washes, two ponchos per wash, and return the ten ponchos to a location near Cambridge train station between 7 and 9.30pm on either Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 October. We also need a few of you to have tumbledriers.
If you can help please email changes4refugees@yahoo.co.uk or comment on this post and we’ll be in touch.

CamCRAG would also like to extend a special thanks to vicar Ian Murray at Chesterton Methodist Church for providing such a beautiful and spacious venue, and to the anonymous donor who generously funded this trial after hearing about the idea at our AGM.
