The situation in Calais and Dunkirk is very different today to when CamCRAG started supporting refugees, almost four years ago.
Help Refugees, who operate the warehouse in Calais at which we volunteer, have announced that they are re-examining how they provide aid in northern France, with a view to handing ground operations over to other organisations at the end of this summer.
Refugee Community Kitchen have announced that they will be staying on in the warehouse through next winter – read their full statement here.
As a result of these changes CamCRAG’s trustees and committee are considering how we can best ensure the charity continues to offer great volunteering opportunities, while supporting refugees in Europe as effectively as we can.
We intend to publish a consultation paper on this issue next month, with a view to holding further discussions with our members and supporters in mid August: More details will be published on the website in the coming weeks.
