The CamCRAG big sleepout returns for its third year! Volunteers will spend the Saturday night sleeping outside to raise money for refugees sleeping rough in Europe. Last year we raised almost £10,000 – can we do better in 2020?

We are pleased to announce that Rowan Williams will be speaking before the sleepout on the Saturday evening, and that Resound Choir will perform a short concert during the afternoon.

Please visit our Sleepers page to meet the team, and to sponsor us!

poster for 2020 SleepoutNobody should sleep outside in winter but many people have no choice. For the rough sleepers on the streets of Cambridge and the refugees in northern France, who sleep on waste land around Calais and Dunkirk, homelessness is not their fault. They may be in this situation because they have lost their job, have family or health problems, have fled persecution, or because their home in Syria or Kurdistan was destroyed by bombs. They all face the same struggles, conditions and stigmatisation.

Help us support these people by joining our sponsored sleepout in the beautiful setting of St Giles’ Church on the corner of Castle Hill, from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. There will be a winter fair on Saturday afternoon, an evening meal and breakfast will be provided, and you can choose how you want to sleep: inside the church, outside in a tent, or outside under a tarpaulin!

To volunteer to be a sponsored sleeper on the Saturday night please register online here

We also need helpers before and during the event, to prepare soup on the Friday, bake cakes, run a stall at the winter fair on the Saturday afternoon, and publicising the event.

To volunteer to help at or before the event please register online here

We will use the proceeds from the event to support CamCRAG’s convoys to Northern France, the Cambridge Churches Homeless Project (CCHP), and groups supporting women who experience homelessness.
