The Big Cambridge-Calais Sleepout, held on homeless Sunday, 28 January, has raised over £11,000 for CamCRAG and Cambridge homeless charity Wintercomfort.
The volunteers who slept out in the grounds of St Giles’ Church didn’t get much sleep, but knew they were safer and warmer than many who sleep rough on the streets of Cambridge, and displaced people in and around Calais.
Earlier in the evening many gathered to hear speeches, including a visit from Cambridge’s MP, Daniel Zeichner, and Mayor George Pippas.
All the volunteers made it through to Monday morning, delighted the event was so well attended and has helped highlight homelessness in Cambridge and abroad.
Thank you everyone involved who made it happen, and for your fantastic support.
