We are very happy to have been able to buy three new wheelbarrows for Calais Food Collective, and to be supporting Dunkirk-based NGO Roots with £3,000 of funding.
Calais Food Collective wheelbarrows have a hard life, bumping over very rough ground day after day, loaded with heavy boxes of food. They don’t last very long so in May we bought three new barrows to replace some of the most decrepit ones.
We have also sent £3,000 towards the running costs of Roots, a fantastic NGO based in Dunkirk that supplies WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities to refugees in the area. They use large water containers, previously deliberately punctured by the French police, and turn them into shower cubicles. They also provide a mobile phone charging service.
Roots are interested in taking on new volunteers if you are able to spend at least a week with them: If you are interested, or for any other enquires, email firstname.lastname@example.org
