Frequently Asked Questions

*What is Cambridge Calais Refugee Action Group?
Cambridge Calais Refugee Action Group is a group of people who live in and around Cambridge working to help the refugees living in the camp in Calais. We are coordinating with CalAid and other aid organisations on the ground in Calais to make sure that we are collecting and donating what is needed most.

Our aim is to raise awareness of the situation and to provide practical help to the refugees by fundraising and organising donations of clothing and other items. CamCRAG started when Sarah Whitebread put out a call on Facebook for people who wanted to help to meet up at a Cambridge pub. Within two weeks the group went from 14 members to over 1000. Donations sites were set up at St Paul’s and St Clement’s Church and due to the fantastic generosity of so many people they are full for the time being. The first convoys left for Calais on September 6th and September 19th.
